Soil Calculator
Use the following information as a guide to calculate soils, mulches, aggregates and other landscape requirements. How to Order Soil:
Length (Ft) x Width (ft) x Depth (inches) divided by 12 divided by 27
eg. 36' x 18' x 3" divided by 12 divided by 27 = 6 cubic yards

Weights and Measures
1 cubic yard of 3/4" gravel or pea gravel weighs approximately 1.1 tons
1 cubic yard of limestone screening or sand weighs approximately 1.4 tons
1 cubic yard of red tile weighs approximately 1 ton
1 cubic yard of 2-6" beach pebbles weighs approximately 1.5 ton
Bagged Products (to cubic yards)
4418kg bags of gravel = 1 cu. yd
3125L bags of soil = 1 cu. yd
2630L bags of triple mix = 1 cu. yd
13 2cu. Ft. Bags of mulch or bark = 1 cu. yd.
OTHER LANDSCAPE CALCULATIONS
Sod
1 roll of sod = 9 sq. ft (each roll approx. 24"wide and 54"long)
Conversion factor: number of square feet to be covered divided by 9 = # of rolls of sod needed
Number of square yards = # of rolls of sod needed.
Pond Liner - determining the correct liner size
1.Measure the maximum dimensions of your pond
______L = length in feet
______D = depth in feet
______W = width in feet
2. Use the following formula to determine the correct liner or underlay size, by filling in your above numbers
(D x 2) + L = Liner length + 2' for overlap = final liner length
(D x 2) + W = Liner width + 2' for overlap = final liner width
3. The liner you require will be the final liner length by the final liner width.
